PG Picture Diary: Milky Way Event 2020

The Milky Way event in PG started yesterday! There were some problems during maintenance so it started late by one day.

There wasn’t anything on the “News” section about it being a repeat event so I thought there’d be new things this time–and there were! I’m not sure about the event’s story background for this time but I do know that the Milky Way stage (Dice Game Stage 80) isn’t new.

The event’s premise revolves around the magical volcano (stage 6). From what I can tell, the Celestial/Heavenly Emperor descends down to stop the volcano from erupting during the Milky Way Season. He also has a daughter, Orihime who meets with her lover during the Milky Way season, Hikoboshi (based on the Tanabata story). I believe a previous event revolved around helping them meet each other as they were separated by the Milky Way.

The emperor appears on the start point of stage 6. If you talk to him, he’ll say that Orihime has abandoned her work to meet her lover, Hikoboshi and that he’d like you to discipline them in his place. He also tells you that they’re somewhere in the Milky Way and that Magpie Eyes have the power to transport you there.

Magpies drift around in stage 6…

To make the Heavenly Orb, 10 Magpie Eyes, 10 Stardust and 20 Magpie Feathers are needed.

There are two new collection points in stage 6. The Bird Eggs are pretty useful so I might get a lot of them at some point. (They’re at the start so there’s no need to roll!)

There were lots of players (even when it was very late at night). At one point I kept seeing petrified and sleeping enemies lol.

Incidentally, I saw some players that were going back and forth the last spot. They said some things at the chat and one of them kept using the team button. I was trying to read it using Google Translate’s OCR but it was very iffy and gave strange/vague translations. I wasn’t sure if they were referring to me, but Google Translate gave me something like “Let’s go together!”. It took a long time and someone was doing the teaming animation so I thought it was me. It was quite awkward standing there and trying to figure what’s going on, but to add to that, I accidentally hit the lobby button. I felt so rude 😢.

I saw them again afterwards doing the same thing and I wanted to apologise if they were referring to me earlier; however, it would’ve taken ages to type out a reply with that exact meaning so I just waved as I’d done before… Playing an online game without understanding the language used is quite rough.

Like in stage 6, there’s a collection point at the start of Milky Way. You can get Bamboo Leaves from the bamboo wish tree which you can make a Bamboo Lance from (requires 99 Bamboo Leaves).

On my first roll, I saw Orihime and Hikoboshi (they were already defeated though lol)! The enemy name was something like “Heavenly Bamboo Boat”.

There were new dolphin enemies that drift the stage. Like the penguin couple, they were surprisingly quite tough to fight. Almost all my weapons have light as their attribute so it was a bit difficult. Critical hits with my Double Deadly Bangle were weaker than ones without so I couldn’t use it…

There were also cows in the Milky Way! They’re not as difficult as the dolphins. They also don’t drift the stage.

I was fighting a dolphin again. I was having trouble because they’re very fast…

…then I remembered secret spells existed. I didn’t expect for them to actually work! I was using my Wraith Mace and regular spells the whole time, making it harder on myself lol.

I also found Magpies in the Milky Way! Oh, you’ll probably notice that I have a shield in this one. I opened the new chest and was lucky to get it! I believe the name is something like “Shield of the Twelve Zodiacs”.

It can deal water damage with critical hits like curse shields but it’s not exactly one as it doesn’t have any effect. It’s a bit easier to use than curse shields because it can’t curse you but damage is weaker–the base shield, anyway. It’s possible to upgrade the shield so the stronger ones will probably increase the critical guard damage.

I was lucky to get the shield because it has this cool looking spell! The spell itself requires 1 Sapphire and 1 Tourmaline gem charges. It’s probably my favourite spell now that I’ve seen it. Unfortunately, the damage seems to be on the low side… I tested it on the cow and the dolphin here.

I missed the Magpie as you can see in the previous one so I went ahead and tested the spell on another one. The damage is the same.

I went to the underground area of the Celestial Castle to test it on the dummies. It looks like the damage of the base shield is 82 which is quite a shame…

It can also inflict paralysis and sleep, though I’m not sure why you’d need both lol.

There’s also a problem with clipping. It doesn’t seem to fit well with my cloak. I’ll probably still use the spell a lot, though, because it looks really good.

Anyway, I managed to find Orehime and Hikoboshi again! (Alive this time lol.) It didn’t take long for them to get defeated again, though. You can probably see some pets spawning on the top left corner.

This is what the last spot looks like. The event adds a lot of items to be collected and they take up a lot of space! As a hoarder of items, my warehouse and rucksack is almost always full so I have to throw away a lot of things…

On my second time rolling through the stage, I got a Diamond Fragment in the final spot! I’ve got three of them now so I only need two more to make a Diamond.

The event only started so there’s still a lot of time to collect items. I was debating on what clothing set to make and wear for the event but in the end I thought I’d make use of the helmet and armour I got from the chests I opened some time ago. I still need a shirt, pants and a pair of shoes to go along with it, though.

There is also new furniture that you can make with the “Star-spangled Dorsal Fin” (or however the dolphin’s drop item is called). I want to make a few of those so it looks like I’ll have to get a lot of them.
