PG Picture Diary: Finishing the Main Story Quests

I’ve finally done it! I’ve finished all of Morias’ 91 quests! It took some dedication (and money for Star Dice) but it was worth it. I’ve also managed to (attempt) to translate all story quests missing from the English wiki and gained some new insights into Morias’ goals. I’d like to think I’ve pieced together a significant part of the puzzle of what’s going on story-wise.

Anyway, along with some clothing (which I’ve sadly got not much space for), I’ve got some really powerful new spells which should help a lot. Also, just yesterday, I sold my Ring of the Wolverine! I immediately bought a Sleipnir (a great sword weapon) for 5555S. A lot of money, but I think it’s quite a bargain. I’ve only seen the price for it dip down to 5555S once before but I had no money to buy it and it was sold quite quickly. It’s a really powerful replacement for my Prism Great Sword. It has a high offensive power of 14 so it’s as strong as Paragon/Art. It’s also slightly faster than most great swords, has 50% light attribute, 100% mythology and can protect against both petrification and blaze. Furthermore, it increases movement speed by 2! It’s quite useful even just for that. However, I do think it’s a bit overpowered and I personally prefer using other weapons because I’m not a fan of its appearance and size.

It’s a really big weapon, isn’t it? This sword is from the chest you can obtain from Thor, who I’d like to see someday in-game (unfortunately, he’s a very hard boss and getting to his stage requires some relatively difficult to obtain items–if you don’t buy the items, that is).

I’ve taken some screenshots of my journey to completing all of Morias’ quests and I thought I’d share them!

The final quest for the fourth level was to defeat Nidhogg! I didn’t have any weapon that could damage it so I just spammed Ideyo Tornado lol. Even if I did, though, I think it would’ve been too dangerous to fight with a weapon (especially with the enemies that accompanied him).
I encountered Nidhogg a LOT of times. I did fight it a few times but eventually I just ignored him because it was a waste of catalysts.
Those Thunder Birds are quite annoying! Compared to other enemies, they’re very persistent and will try to follow and attack once they see you.
Eventually I just ignored him because I was running out of catalysts in my warehouse lol.
After defeating Fafnir, it was time to investigate the Castle of Darkness. Unfortunately, I don’t have any images of the inside of the castle.
This was when I got to Morias’ first quest to investigate the World of Ice.
This stage has some dangerous falling stalactites.
For the last two quests for this stage, I was asked to defeat the Ice Queen and bring back a Block of Ice.
The final quest for the fifth level doesn’t require you to defeat Fafnir. Morias just asks you to bring him an Earth Dragon Leather so you can buy the leather without having to fight Fafnir (though Morias expects you to get it directly from the dragon).
I got the leather!
Oh, by the way, I also encountered him a few more times (though I ignored him because it took a lot of catalysts lol).
After giving the Earth Dragon Leather, Morias asked me to investigate the Baleful Cavern…
The use of magic was sealed inside the cavern so I had to use my Healing Feathers to heal instead of the blessed rain spell.
The first task was to defeat 10 Skeletons.
It took me some time to find the dragon, but for the last task, I had to find and defeat the Zombie Dragon. After this, Morias taught me the ultimate secret spell: Unare Meteorite.
Oh, by the way, the final spot for the stage had a timer and a coffin. The timer is already set to 00:00:00 now, but there was a story event some time ago where shadow creatures came out of the coffin and marched to Splendor Mythos. This was an event similar to the end of season 1. I’m not quite sure where the story is going, but I do have my speculations so I documented them here.
After that it was time to investigate Halma’s Cove…
By the way, all these screenshots so far of Halma’s Cove have been from one pass of the stage (I was hunting Hippocampi for the Hippocampi quest).
I then got to Cthulhu and tried to defeat it with my weapon. However, it was too dangerous because it had a lot of tentacles. My next approach was to bombard him with spells. You can see here that I used the crushing bullet spell on it.
I also used the ultimate spell that summons meteorites. It was almost dead so I went on to finish it with my weapon…
…but it beat me before I did! lol. It wasn’t that bad, however, as I didn’t really need anything from it. I finished one more quest and saved it for the last quest which had me defeat it. That time, since its health was low, I just had to use a spell or two.
After finishing the investigation quests for Halma’s Cove, Morias only gave some event quests. The last few quests involved the Reborn Ogres, which were apparently sealed monsters that somehow got unsealed. In the quest text, Morias also talks about the mysterious man that appeared beside him. The last few quests gave me two orbs that Morias received from the mysterious man: one teleports you to the Celestial Castle and the other teleports you in front the Cave of Trials. Morias was even surprised that the man could create the orbs, implying that their creation is a difficult process that requires a lot of magical power. It really makes you wonder: who is that man? Is he Shasura? (unlikely) Is he Org? (also unlikely) Or is he Morias or Maris from the future? We might find out soon…

Back to PG: Picture Diary

I took quite a bit of screenshots whilst I was playing. My intentions were to make specific blog posts for them but I never seem to have enough time and motivation to do so. I figured it would be a waste to not post them so I thought I would.

This was one of my early screenshots. I didn’t really intend to post this here but I thought it’s quite a funny screenshot. I’d say I was really traumatised by these Ogres when I started my return to PG; now I just go past them, hoping they leave me alone as they don’t drop anything useful so it would be a waste of time to deal with them. They’re still really annoying, though! Every so often I’ll ignore them but then they’ll somehow either hit me or swallow me (it takes around 4 seconds to get out!)
I defeated them by spamming magic…
This, again, is one of my early screenshots. I was hoping to make a blog post about the items I got from my first chests but never quite found the time. One of those items is a spell book that can summon these shadow ninjas. It consumes 2 Zoisite points for each use which is quite costly but since I don’t really have anything to use those points for, this isn’t a bad use for them. It’s a very useful book for Magicaloss as it deals quite a lot of damage. I’ve also found it quite useful for dealing some damage to one of the bosses of the new stage (Memories of the White Lion) which I assume is for the Reborn event. I haven’t taken any screenshot of that stage unfortunately, but I hope to do so.
I’m not sure why, but I took a screenshot of Kirin during my forays into the Starlight Cave. I think it was because I kept encountering it, but I didn’t really have any space nor use for its drops. Actually… Just recently, I got to Morias’ Kirin extermination quest. It took me quite a few runs and Diamond points to finish! During my first runs, there was another player that was repeatedly rolling in stage 18. I think it was the second time I used the orb that day; I actually saw Kirin! Unfortunately, the player had already killed it by the time I got to the spot so I had to keep searching for it afterwards (it took me around 16 orb uses to find it again).
I managed to create the orb for the pirates’ event stage (Blue Coast/Beach/Paradise?). It’s quite a short stage, but it looked quite nice. You could find slimes there…
…and these clams! I don’t remember what the creatures in this stage dropped, but I know the slimes drop some, err, slime parts and the clam drops Pearls.
At the final spot is this boss which resembles a Harpy. It had an attack that could make you sleep, but other than that, I don’t really remember much. With critical hits, it’s really easy to take it down. You could also petrify it quite easily if you wanted to.
There was this time I tried to go as deep as I can in the Cave of Trials. I actually encountered some really scary looking bosses! This one is Nidhogg which is the drifting boss for the 4th level. I didn’t dare try attacking it! Even now as I’m writing this, I think I would have trouble trying to defeat it.
I actually encountered it twice quite recently (both in the same spot) while doing Maris’ quests. This was when I found out how dangerous it could be. I got caught by its swallow attack. The timer was quite short! I believe it was just around 6 seconds. I almost got swallowed whole, too which would have been annoying as that would have been a waste of a Diamond point (which I used to warp to stage 18 to skip levels 1 and 2).
So anyway, back on to the exploration part… This was was entrance to the 5th level.
It’s certainly quite a unique looking place! I’d say it’s one of the best looking levels, if not the best looking one. I’m really impressed with the detail and concept of the environment. I was especially impressed by the map which was really different to all the other levels. The whole place felt quite calming and soothing thanks to the BGM.
There were some cute “Anaguma” (アナグマ | Japanese Badger) there…
…and some Cave Cockatrices, Bears and Dragon Turtles. Oh, there was Fafnir, too! The sudden change of BGM was jarring and it was quite scary suddenly being in front of this green dragon. I quickly fled away from that spot.
I landed on the entrance to the Baleful Cavern.
I also managed to land into the entrance to Halma’s Cove! I didn’t go in at that time, though as of writing this, I’d gone inside there twice now.
And here’s the entrance to the 6th level (the beginning of the difficult levels). I think of those levels as a super dungeon of sorts, like the ones you unlock in RPGs. They’re the bonus secret ones that usually are either unlocked by some secret method or are unlocked in the end game. Unfortunately, after this, I didn’t take, or rather, I wasn’t able to take any more screenshots. I actually recorded a video but it was a failure because when my ISP had some problems at the time so I got disconnected and got sent back to the lobby after presumably being defeated the Bandit Knolls after my first roll.
I believe at some point during that time, I also went inside the two stages in the 4th level: the Castle of Darkness and the World of Ice. The castle was really dark. I remember testing all kinds of items but even the Cosmic Club didn’t really emit any light (which is a shame).
I went to Magicaloss to buy a lantern to light up the surroundings.
This screenshot is actually quite recent. You can see that I’m wearing the Sergeant clothes here. I actually took a screenshot of the queen boss prior to this (around the same time as my Cave of Trials exploration attempt) but I think I overwrote it cause this was a better screenshot of the boss. By the way, I think this is the first boss that has other damageable “parts”! I don’t remember what the ice stones do as I quickly defeated her by spamming magic… I do know Cthulhu from Halma’s Coves has this as well! Cthulhu’s tentacles can be damaged separately. I don’t know if they die if Cthulhu’s main body gets defeated though.
I know just recently I doubted that I was going to complete Morias’ Garm extermination quest anytime soon, but I actually did it a few days ago, to my surprise. It took a really long time (and a lot of star dice) to really try to cover every spot. I really hoped Garm was located after stage 18 cause I didn’t want to have to go to the 3rd level from the 1st level every time. Alas, I found him on the 3rd spot after using up all my Diamond gem points and wasting star dice. I think it took 2-3 runs after I ran out of Diamond points to find him. I was really anxious too because I think there was another player searching for him. I didn’t have the guarantee that Garm wouldn’t be defeated by a player and that he wouldn’t move to a spot I’d already marked.
This is the most recent screenshot. I’ve just started Morias’ quests for the Land of the Dragons. As of writing this, I’ve just completed his quest for defeating 10 Fairy Dragons and am now at the quest for defeating 5 Black Dragons. I’ll have to use up quite a bit of my Crystal supply to spam Hirameke Force as they’re too dangerous for me to whack up close with my weapon! I got defeated by one of them whilst I was doing the Fairy Dragon quest…

Back to PG: Splendor Mythos Lore

I’ve made quite a bit of progress since the last post! I finished all of the quests Maris currently gives (9 quests) and I got to learn more about the world and story of S2. During this, I thought about compiling all information about the lore and story of Splendor Mythos; I went ahead and started this! As I don’t know Japanese, the only way I had of understanding the text was to use OCR and machine translation. I made sure to use all available ones to get an accurate translation as possible.

It was hard trying to make sure the OCR software captures the right kanji characters while making sense of the machine translated text but I believe I’ve managed to do it. I also tried to faithfully capture the nuances as well as the style of the language the English version of PG used. Hopefully I was able to somewhat succeed in doing that.

I should hopefully be able to keep updating the document as I go along.

Splendor Mythos Lore/Story (English)

Splendor Mythos Lore/Story Original Text (Japanese)

I’m currently stuck on Morias’ Garm extermination quest. Unfortunately, I foresee that this one will take me quite a while because Garm is so elusive and I only have quick access to spots after stage 18 (using Star Orb).
