Back to PG: Dice Troubles

Hi all!

I’ve recently got back in playing the jp version of PG. I know I complained about the lag in my previous posts but now that I actually am playing, it doesn’t seem too bad (the trick is to anticipate where the character is on the server-side).

Due to my character’s lack of good equipment, I decided to aim for a goal: get a gem and sell it, then buy weapons stronger than what I have currently. The current meta seems to be focused on critical damage. It’s strange, really, since season 2 seems to have tried to push players towards the idea of using magic by introducing the secret spell system but as it stands right now, dealing 250 + damage every second hit renders magic obsolete. So, with that said, I’m going to try and get a weapon with a relatively high critical hit rate (10% or greater seems appealing to me). I’ve actually got a critical weapon right now (iron anchor), but the critical rate is ridiculously low and it might as well not be there. It’s still my primary weapon even though I have something slightly better (axe) as it looks better than the axe. It has a critical rate of 1% and the critical damage is attributed to water. I’ve only seen it crit twice, actually and the damage was 156 for both (it’s probably around 158 because the anchor seems to love getting overkills on trolls which have some slight protection against physical damage).

So, since I got back into the game again, the only new things I’ve got are: the Iron Anchor and… the 10th Anniversary Shirt. I’ve not got much progress at all apart from getting lots of iron, copper and magical sparks (most of which I’ve got from running T6, trying to get Requiem event materials). I’ve not actually made the anchor because of the drop rate of Troll Fur (I’d have needed 90 of them to make 3 Magical Rope). During my runs of T6, I got 2 materials which I don’t know the name of, and 1 hoof. By selling these, I got about 27S or so which was enough to buy the 25S anchor. I also got to make a Zoa Axe which I put up on the merchant along with my Zoa Long Bow, though I doubt people would buy them.

Unfortunately, unlike the int version of PG, the only choice is to really solo as there’s not many int players around (it’s still quite a lot, but the timezone difference makes it hard to see players). If you do see someone online, it’s likely that they’ll be doing stuff on their own. This really made it quite difficult to actually do things you want because for the first time ever, you’ll find that you run out of dice quickly. Fortunately, season 2 does give you a lot to replenish your rolls, but at the cost of using them.

One of the ways you can (theoretically) increase your dice count is to run T10 and T13. Both of them have the most number of silver/gold/starred dice spots so you might be able to exchange 1 roll for 9 more if you get 1 gold dice (die, really, but it’s what it is called in-game). Keywords: might and if. I wonder how Lily got all those dice because right now, I’m gradually losing rolls instead of gaining them! I decided to take some pictures during a couple of runs trying to get more rolls and here they are:

I’ve reached the end of T10. That wasn’t a bad run, really. Apart from encountering Fenrir. Again. Which means I’ve lost 1 dice roll cause he won’t let me gather anything. Well, on to T13! Hope this run gets better.

Encountered no spots where there aren’t dice so far, so it’s good apart from these Kobolds harassing me.

sleipnir

Sleipnir. -1 die roll.

On the bright side, I have many of these absolutely useless unneeded items:

It seems like every time I run T10-T13 my dice reserve, rather than increasing, decreases. For now, it seems I’ll have to make do with selling cheap, wanted items (currently, so far I’ve sold 2 star dice so I’ve got 58S right now. Hurray!)

Well, that’s it for this post. Thanks for reading!
